It doesn’t matter what business you’re in, if you live and work in the North of England, the success of our nation’s Northern Powerhouse ambition is likely to be of great importance to you.

The repositioning of the English economy away from London and the South East has great potential to benefit the whole of the UK, by delivering greater economic prosperity to the core northern cities of Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, and Newcastle.

But the Northern Powerhouse isn’t just about money or even devolution of power. It’s about transport, high-speed rail, infrastructure and investment in science, innovation and even the arts.
Up to 3,000 people are expected to attend the UK Northern Powerhouse International Conference and Exhibition, taking place at Manchester Central on the 21 and 22 February 2017.

Manchester Central

The conference is the biggest cross-sectoral gathering of Northern businesses in the UK and it will include interactive sessions with top firms such as Nissan, Yorkshire Bank, Cisco and Stobart Group, as well as the Confederation of British Industry, Institute of Directors and Federation of Small Businesses.

Every northern business and organisation has a vested interest in the Northern Powerhouse and this event fully presents the scale of the opportunities that it can unlock.

The event will look closely at the Northern Powerhouse in the post-Brexit era and has drawn strong representation from public and private sector leaders, including several Blue Chip companies; The very people who can equip businesses with insights into the vision and ambitions of the Northern Powerhouse.

The Northern Powerhouse is about creating a better, stronger and more balanced Britain and it relies on a united approach, for the good of all. International Festival for Business will be attending the conference and we’d love to see as many of our members there as possible because greater northern power means a more prosperous Britain.

The two-day conference is supported by business leaders from across the major cities and Northern Powerhouse Minister Andrew Percy (pictured right) will be providing the keynote speech. Former Commercial Secretary to the Treasury Lord Jim O’Neill has also confirmed he will be returning as a keynote speaker.

Lord O’Neill of Gatley, who worked closely with the former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne to drive forward the Northern Powerhouse project, city devolution, and infrastructure strategy. He plans to continue to actively support Osborne’s vision to deliver growth beyond the South East through the Northern Powerhouse.

Other speakers include Lord Kerslake, chair of the UK Northern Powerhouse Advisory Board, David Brown, CEO, Transport for the North, Ed Cox, director, IPPR North, Graham Robb, chairman, IoD, James McCartney MP, Joe Saxton, FSB Lead for the Northern Powerhouse, Paul Griffiths, phase two development director, HS2 and Paula Marsh, head of development & finance, Department of International Trade.
